Apparently legitimate, this Agreement gives sole financial control of his musical legacy to his agent, should anything happen to Christie, which now looks like becoming a distinct possibility, given that DI Coglan discovers that Dennis James, a sinister character with crime-gang links , has recently become a member of the singer’s entourage. When Josh finds out that the last two gigs FAQ had appeared at had been rigged and that he had become a person of interest to the police, he is encouraged, by his computer-genius friend Tomo Morrison, to join his father on a business trip to Thailand and lie low until it becomes clear that he is no longer a suspect in the life-threatening muggings related to the two rigged gigs. The action in this tale of avarice, suspicion and interwoven relationships—both inspiring and malevolent—moves back and forth between London and the stunningly attractive area known as Phang Nga Bay, in southern Thailand, where East-End villain Denny James teams up with a sinister Thai known as Dirty Huang, many of whose all-purpose bars are situated in Bangkok’s infamous sexploitation district, where the vulnerable in that society are an endless source of profit for those who don’t pay a lot of attention to human misery, unless it happens to be their own. This is not a thriller, in the overused sense of that word- it is a story of love and broken trust that somehow gets mended. It is the story of a journey where the final destination must remain a mystery, otherwise you wouldn’t need to read the book, would you.
